This program focuses on continued independence. The curriculum in this program includes teaching both fine and gross motor skills, sensory play, art activities, musical exposure, introduction to
colors, shapes and encouragement in sharing. This gradual change from smaller groups to slightly larger groups provides a structure in which the child becomes prepared for the larger groups found
in pre-school grades.
Communication and academic skills are developed in the Early Learning I room, as well as self-help skills, such as table manners. Social skills, such as sharing toys and positive interactions,
are stressed throughout the day. The positive atmosphere in the Early Learning I room enhances a child's good feelings about himself/herself and those around him/her.
